The cultural profile of my city, Brăila (Romania), is rooted in 650-year history. A city that gave humanity many valuable talents in all fields. Nowadays, there are few those who perpetuate its secular tradition or develop the spiritual community of its inhabitants. Today I’m going to talk about the Romanian master in painting and arts in general, Hugo Mărăcineanu, who represents
a real reference mark in the Romanian art, a creative spirit in constant motion. A personality absolutely special in the culture of Brăila, the artist Hugo Mărăcineanu seeks and finds the plasticity all over. It is really hard to express the artist’s prodigious activity in words nor I have it in mind to do as such. What I know about the artist is that he likes to express in his paintings only what he feels … therefore, he does paint when he feels like and not on commission. The Romanian painter has a strong belief that, and I quote: “Those who buy our artworks should know that they are taking a little piece of our lives along with them.” Fell in love with Romania, he succeeded in making the most of what it is authentic Romanian as well as of what truly matters to the universal art … and all these by means of his special and distinct works of art. His fascinating pieces of art have a profound philosophical side: that kind of philosophy detached from the deep Romanian history and reflected on the art dynamics. After analyzing with great interest and pleasure the artist’s portfolio, I’ve decided to write – in this article – about a relatively recent artwork of his: “The Path to Nowhere” / “The Path of Souls”. The artist told me that, in this painting, he wants to “continuously describe some of the ancestral Romanian states of mind”.![]()
says it is not sensitive
but rather a path to self-knowledge, revelation and spiritual opening towards others through God. In the marvelous work of art inspiringly entitled by the artist “The Path to Nowhere”, Hugo Mărăcineanu wishes to express the idea that the ashen drab of the mountains is not conveyed to the souls that push off from the matter. The artist has confessed to me that he would sell this painting only to that person who will not fail to understand its insightful message and inwardness. Title: “The Path to Nowhere” or “The Path of Souls” Technique: Acrylic on canvas Dimensions: 40/50 cm Year of creation: 2011 Available at the price of 300 euros.
